~~~ Vaccinations ~~~
There is quite a bit of controversy regarding annual vaccinations when it comes to domestic animals. Yes, puppies do need the series of boosters, but is it really necessary to vaccinate adult dogs each year? According to some experts, this may actually do more harm to your pet, than good.
Feel free to do your homework on this subject. Although all our rescue dogs are fully vaccinated when they are rehomed, their on-going veterinary care is up to the new owner. If you do choose to continue to vaccinate your pet each year, consider having the Rabies vaccination done one visit, and then after 1 week or two, have the other combo vaccination given.
Personally, my dogs are vaccinated for Rabies and Bordatella. I then request the blood test referred to as the "Titer Test". This test determines whether or not the animal really needs the other vaccinations for Parvo, Distemper, etc. It's been 3 years and none of my dogs has needed these vaccinations.
Please note that repeated vaccinations can trigger an auto-immune disorder which may result in death. Jeff Bowman spent thousands of dollars attempting to save his 4 year old mini, only to loose him after a 3 week battle that involved 3 blood tranfusions. Sunny was a perfectly healthy, beautiful American Eskimo at the prime of his life. He literally died from the annual vaccinations. You can read Sunny's story here.
