Max's Photo Album | The Pumpkin Seed's Album
On May 18th, 2001 Max came to live with me and what a wonderful experience this has been. This was my first experience with acquiring a "second-hand" dog. Although I had literally grown up with the American Eskimo breed, Maxwell was a miniature. This was also something new as my family always had the standard size. Max became homeless when his first mommy married and left the country. Due to the strict regulations in that country, taking Max was not an option. Thankfully, Max was given to someone who is an avid dog lover who placed him with me.
Maxwell very quickly adapted to him new "forever home" and we bonded within days. Due to the fact that he was not properly socialized as a puppy, Max had issues with men and children that to this day we are still "working on". Until this experience, I had no idea that dogs just like Max are dumped at animal shelters. At many animal shelters, dogs exhibiting behavioral issues are usually labeled "unadoptable" and are PTS without any chance for finding that forever family.
Because of my love for this breed, I am dedicated to educating people to the concept of rescue and, of course, all about the "dog beautiful", The American Eskimo Dog! This is a breed like no other. They are loving, loyal, devoted, and a joy to have as a pet and companion. The American Eskimo Dog was specifically breed for companionship and as a watchdog. An extremely intelligent breed, they quickly learn obedience, house rules, tricks, and routines. They are considered to be a soft breed and are very willing to please. The American Eskimo Dog does not tolerate abuse and does not do well separated from their "people". They are NOT "outside dogs". These types of situations quickly manifest as behavioral issues. Due to their temperment and nature, socialization with adults, children, and other dogs is a must in their puppyhood and early years.
"An American Eskimo Dog is like a sunny day!"
Every "Wooley Bear" should have their very own human!
There is NOTHING like an American Eskimo Dog!
